Case Studies

University College Durham Trust

Jeremy Mills Publishing has worked on the design, publication and printing of Durham Castle: Fortress, Palace, College by Richard Brickstock. Published to fund projects for the students of University College, the book was worked on by our editorial and graphic design teams, and was project managed in-house. An editor was assigned to the book, and worked closely with the author in order to produce an informative but interesting text, and the index was created by our professional indexer. The design and typesetting work was done by our graphic design team, who worked on every image in the book individually to ensure that they were of the best quality. Our designers also worked with the client to help decide which images to include and to share ideas on layout and the overall design of the book. This led to a sumptuously illustrated publication that tells the full story of the Castle, and is available in both paperback and hardback editions.

Selwyn College, Cambridge

For Selwyn College, Cambridge, we designed, edited, printed and published Selwyn Celebrated 1882–2007, a commemorative book to celebrate 125 years of the college. Our in-house graphic design team designed and laid out every page, whilst an editor proofread the text. The book was also assigned a project manager, who kept track of the schedule and the budget of the book, as well as ensuring that the college was pleased with the results. A special edition of the book was also published that was hand-bound in high-quality cloth, with marbled endpapers, a ribbon marker and a luxurious slipcase, upon which the college crest was foil blocked in gold – a truly special and original publication.

Leeds College of Art and Design

Jeremy Mills Publishing worked with Leeds College of Art and Design to produce Design Pedagogy Research: Leeds 2007, a set of conference proceedings from the college. The project was managed in-house and the text proofread by a member of our editorial staff. The cover and interior layout of the book was then designed in collaboration with the client, who wanted the title to have a particular feel. The book was then printed and bound at our associate printing company in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire.
