Jeremy Mills Publishing has considerable experience of publishing historical works and we have recently worked on Men of Metal: the History of the Armourers and Brasiers of the City of London.

We can also offer a special binding service for titles, and have produced a special edition of Men of Metal that is hand-bound in cloth and half-bound in leather, with marbled endpapers, a ribbon marker and a luxurious slipcase, upon which the title of the book is blocked in gold – a truly special publication.

The Worshipful Company of Painters, otherwise Painter-Stainers

Jeremy Mills Publishing has a long history of working for the Company, including the publication of The History of the Worshipful Company of Painters otherwise Painter-Stainers, which was published in 2005. The full design, layout and typesetting of the book was worked on by our graphic design team, and its publication and printing was project managed in-house. A special edition of the book was published, which was hand-bound in cloth and half-bound in leather. Jeremy Mills Publishing also undertook the project management and book design for this special edition.

Other projects that Jeremy Mills Publishing has worked on for the Company include the design and printing of the Lynn Painter-Stainers Prize Exhibition Catalogue for the last two years. This involved our graphic design team working on the prize-winning images to ensure that each one appeared at its best in the catalogue. The design of the catalogue is fresh and modern, and Jeremy Mills Publishing also produced high-quality flyers and invitations for the exhibition.

The Worshipful Company of Armourers and Brasiers

In 2008 Jeremy Mills Publishing designed and produced Men of Metal: A History of the Armourers and Brasiers of the City of London. The book was written by Elizabeth Glover and was designed by our in-house graphic design team. A project manager was assigned to the book to look after schedules and the budget, and a member of our publishing team researched some of the images required for the book, locating them and managing the rights to them. Our design team then worked on the layout of the book, and once this was ready work began on the index. The index was compiled by the author, then typeset and rechecked by an in-house indexer. The book was then printed and bound.

The result was a beautifully illustrated hardback book, and Jeremy Mills Publishing then produced a number of special editions of the same title. The special books were hand bound in leather, given marbled endpapers and then the title of the book was foil blocked in gold upon the spine and front of the publication. A slipcase was then created for the book, and was hand bound in cloth with the same gold lettering foil blocked on to the spine, making the book an ideal presentation gift. Both editions of the book were finished with ribbon markers and head and tail bands. Find out more about printing and binding by clicking here.
